- Cake - we finalized our cake choices. We went with a grocery store bakery - Ukrop's Bakery - because their designs are just as pretty, they are just as creative, flexible, and customizable, and they are literally half the cost as a stand alone bakery. Their cakes are tasty - as tasty as some of the "bakery-bakeries", no but certainly good cake. Neither James nor I have a sweet tooth, so the cake was not a high priority item. I want it to taste good and to look gorgeous - this will be both. We're happy.
- Bridesmaids Dresses - We've chosen and ordered our bridesmaids dresses! We went with the favorite of most everyone in the wedding party, if not everyone, and my favorite. We were able to find the dress at a great price through Victoria's Bridal Couture. This is the same store my sister got her bridesmaids dresses from and we had no problems. Knock on wood, the same will hold true for our dresses. Although I don't want to post a picture of the actual dress, so there's some excitement on the day of the wedding, here's a hint: they are After Six dresses, knee length, and African Violet (of course I chose purple!)
- Tuxes - James went with Bert, one of his groomsmen, to pick out the guys' attire. At first, I was surprised by a few of James's choices but I went to have a look for myself and I think he did an awesome job! I love the tux jacket he picked and he chose the best option for the groomsmen vests and ties. All in all - job well done James!
- Transportation - I have been looking for a limo service to take the wedding party from the chapel, around for pictures, and then to the reception. I am looking for 2 hours of service. Wouldn't you know every quote I got for awhile was over $900 - for 2 hours! Needless to say (I think) this was waaayyy more than I was anticipating. I mean really, over $400 an hour for a limo and chauffer? There had to be another option. I looked into trolleys - same cost for weekend service. Finally I had an idea - most of the places I looked at were on the peninsula or from VA Beach. Maybe Richmond would have more affordable prices. They seem to. I am still working on it, but I think we'll find something within budget out of the Richmond area. Whew. I was really starting to get discouraged.
- Invitations - still a work in progress. I have a little time, but I think I am heading in a good direction. At least today I think that....tomorrow I may have a complete change of heart.
- PARTIES! - I have been working with numerous different people (I am extremely blessed) to plan a shower in WI, a shower in Williamsburg, and my bachelorette party! I am so excited to celebrate with my family and friends as we approach the wedding. Everyone is really excited for us, so it's so much fun. And my friends and family have great ideas and great taste when it comes to these things - so much fun! THANK YOU so much for everything already!
- Registering - James and I went back to Macy's and Bed Bath and Beyond yesterday to finish our registries. He's been such a trooper and has really been involved in this aspect of our wedding. While at Macy's we noticed that a few items had already been purchased - YAY! So cool! BTW - Macy's is having a great sale right now - our dinnerware is BOGO and our stemware is buy three get one free...Macy's is great for sales!
So, I think that's about it... Sounds like a lot, doesn't it. It feels good to check some things off the list but I know there are still a ton of things still on there. So far so good, though. I have been enjoying most things and the other things are fine - just things that need to get done. For the most part, I haven't felt stressed or overwhelmed. :-D Just looking forward to getting married and being a Mrs.!
