"The honor of your presence is requested..."

I've been looking at invitations a lot lately and have decided that I don't like choosing the wedding stationary!  I feel like the wedding invitation sets the tone for the wedding in a way.  It's definitely the only impression your guests have for the month leading up to the event.  There are so many options - not only colors and design - but paper and printing process.  I LOVE the feeling of textured paper and embossed or imprinted lettering.  That feeling comes with a price tag.  All these trade offs!  I don't know what to do - order online (probably a digital invitation = flat invite and lettering), order through a stationary store (invitations run the gammet) or work on DIY invites and create what I want, as much as possible (price is better but way more work).  Honestly, some of the work of the DIY invites is really overwhelming to me - cutting paper to size, printing, adhering, etc.  It all seems like SO MUCH to get just right.  I'm pretty much a perfectionist, so this may just put me over the edge.  Of couse, purple will be included in the invitation.  Here are a few designs I've come across lately:
